Board Meeting Minutes

January 23

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Divernon Village Hall. Village President Randy Rhodes called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance, Clerk Rod Molnar called roll: Randy Rhodes “Here”, Jim Copelin “Here”, Pam Cronister “Here”, Larry Baer “Here”, Derek Hedges “Here”, Dianne Brenning “Here”. Also in attendance were Police Chief Barclay Harris and Superintendent Larry Rhodes. Melissa Layton was absent.

A motion was made by Cronister to approve the minutes of January 9, 2013. Baer seconded and the motion passed 5-0.

Brenning presented the Village bills with a motion that they be approved. After Hedges seconded the motion, it was approved 5-0.

John Woods was present to work out an adjustment and time table in getting his water bill paid. He had leaks on two different occasions. He was instructed by the Board to get with Sue Arter to work out his adjustment. His bill would then be paid off over the course of a week.

George Rogers was present to answer questions concerning his request of a liquor license. A motion was made by Hedges and seconded by Baer to grant a liquor license for Myra’s Home-style Restaurant. The motion was approved 5-0.

Superintendent Report:

Superintendent Rhodes informed the Board that he had received the new street signs and that they have been installed. The Village had an audit by the Gas Utilities Alliance of the gas system. They reported that all was well with the system. The only recommendation they had was to improve community awareness of the gas system. They will be getting some estimates on what it would cost to have this done professionally.

A motion was made by Hedges and seconded by Cronister to approve a two year contract with United Gas Management for purchasing natural gas for the Village. The motion passed 5-0.

Police Report:

Chief Harris reported that he and his officers had attended classes on new laws that took place at the beginning of the year. He also brought the Board up to date on some issues going on in the Village.

Committee Reports:

Streets, Alleys, and Utilities:

Cronister will set up the first of two community informational meetings concerning the electric aggregation issue. She will also obtain utility rates from other villages to compare those to Divernon.

Finance:

Nothing to report.

Personnel:

A motion was made by Copelin and seconded by Cronister to make a change to the personnel code concerning holidays. The motion was approved 5-0.

Health and Safety:

Nothing to report.

Community Development:

Nothing to report.

Building Grounds and Lights:

A motion was made by Brenning and seconded by Hedges to approve the bid from Designer Landscapes for work in the park and other areas in the Village. The bid total was $2064.80. The motion was approved 5-0.
