Board Meeting Minutes

January 9

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Divernon Village Hall. Village President Randy Rhodes called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance, Clerk Rod Molnar called roll: Randy Rhodes “Here”, Melissa Layton “Here”, Pam Cronister “Here”, Larry Baer “Here”, Derek Hedges “Here”, Dianne Brenning “Here”. Also in attendance were Police Chief Barclay Harris and Superintendent Larry Rhodes. Jim Copelin was absent.

A motion was made by Cronister to approve the minutes of December 26, 2012. Baer seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Layton voting present.

A motion was made by Brenning to approve the executive session minutes of December 26, 2012. Hedges seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Layton voting present.

Brenning presented the Village bills with a motion that they be approved. After Hedges seconded the motion, it was approved 5-0.

John Calise of Benton and Associates was present to give the Board an update on the overview he has been working on concerning the water department.

Superintendent Report:

Superintendent Rhodes advised the Board that he would be purchasing 34 new street signs.

Police Report:

Chief Harris reported that the new police vests have arrived and he would be requesting reimbursement from the federal government for their portion of the grant. There will be classes next week for him and his officers concerning law updates for legislative changes for the new year.

Committee Reports:

Streets, Alleys, and Utilities:

Cronister and Molnar gave updates on the electric aggregation issue.

Finance:

Nothing to report.

Personnel:

Baer is working on a change to the personnel code and will have it ready at the next meeting.

Health and Safety:

Nothing to report.

Community Development:

A new restaurant will be moving into the restaurant at the truck stop that previously housed Myra’s Family Restaurant.

Building Grounds and Lights:

A bid from Designer Landscapes will be presented to the Board at the next meeting.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

A liquor license request for Myra’s Family Restaurant was tabled pending receiving more information on the request.

Motion by Layton to adjourn at 8:12 p.m.
