The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Divernon Village Hall. Mayor Randy Rhodes called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance, Clerk Rod Molnar called roll: Randy Rhodes “Here” Jamie Morgan “Here”, Larry Baer “Here”, Derek Hedges “Here”, Dianne Brenning “Here”. Also in attendance were Police Chief Barclay Harris and Jeremy Rhodes. Melissa Layton was absent. Jim Copelin arrived at 6:20 p.m.

A motion was made by Hedges to approve the minutes of June 24, 2015. Baer seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Morgan voting present.

Brenning presented the Village bills with a motion that they be approved, after the motion was seconded by Baer, it passed 4-0.

Supervisors Reports:

Public Works:

Jeremy Rhodes reported that the new utility truck has been ordered. He also gave some estimates on the cost of new water meters. A representative from Badger Meters will be present at a meeting in August to give the Board more information.

Police Report:

Chief Harris reported he has received one application so far for the position of animal control officer. He will continue to take applications until the end of the month. There have been a few cars that have been broken into and he encourages everyone to keep their vehicles locked.

Committee Reports:

Economic Development, Zoning, TIF, Building Permits:

Nothing to report.

Public Utilities, Water, Sewer and Gas:

Nothing to report.

Finance, Personnel, Technology, GIS:

Nothing to report.

Public Safety, Police, Health and Safety:

Nothing to report.

Public Works, Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks:

Copelin and R. Rhodes will drive the alleys to determine which trees are in need of trimming. Two applications have been received for the annual sidewalk replacement program.

Building Grounds and Lights, Parks, Recreation:

J. Rhodes will have his crew trim the bushes around the Welcome to Divernon sign.

Old Business:

Mayor Rhodes updated the Board on a number of issues including working with the county on the demolition of abandoned properties on Lewis Street. The Village Attorney is working on the empty lots on State Street where abandoned houses were demolished. He is determining what actions need to take place to have the lots become the property of the Village. There is nothing new to report on the service station properties on Brown Street.

New Business:

Village Board meetings will be moved to 6:30 p.m. beginning with the meeting on July 22, 2015.

Motion by Hedges to adjourn at 7:00 p.m.
